Hamm in Martha speaks

PBS' kiddie cartoon Martha Speaks. "They are dog lovers," says executive producer Carol Greenwald.
A chance meeting in an elevator with the show's head writer led to an offer to create an episode revolving around the couple and their German Shepherd mix, Cora. "The story was inspired by Jennifer saying how much she missed her dog," says Greenwald, who was beyond thrilled at how Westfeldt and Hamm got into the spirit of the show, which airs February 20. "I appreciated the enthusiasm they brought to this — they had to do a lot of silly things and say silly lines and they just pulled it off completely."
As for the "timid" Cora, her famous owners opted to have a voice-over pro do her lines. It's a dog's life!

It’s very exciting to have Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt appear together on Martha Speaks with their dog Cora. Not only are they both great actors and very funny, but they do a wonderful job helping us teach kids new vocabulary words like audition and reunite. And Cora is a star in the making, stealing the spotlight from all of the (animated) human characters!”

Cora is incredibly special to us -- and a total original,” says Hamm. Westfeldt adds, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share her with kids all over the country.”

"Cora! Cora! Cora!" features a traveling production of "Antony and Cleopatra," a case of mistaken identity and a troupe of circus dogs that are sure to make viewers howl with laughter. Helen’s family friend Kit Luntanne, voiced by Jennifer Westfeldt, is upset that she’s had to leave her lovable dog, Cora, at home while she travels with her acting troupe.
Martha tries to help by visiting Kit at the theater to give her authentic dog support. Backstage, Martha meets Ham Johnson, voiced by Jon Hamm, an actor who admires Kit and wants to impress her. Together, they hatch a plan to reunite Kit with Cora.
In part two, "Cora Encore!," confusion ensues as Martha and Ham cross paths with a troupe of circus dogs who all look exactly like Cora. Can Martha and Ham find the real Cora before she’s sent off to perform on the high wire? Or before Kit finds out about the mess they’ve made?
