Hamm is International Man of the Decade at the GQ award (nov 2016)

Nov 15
Jon Hamm and Chris Evans arrived separately on early morning flights today, flying in from the US to attend the 10th annual GQ Men Of The Year Awards that will be held at the Ivy tomorrow night.
I am so excited, I’ve never been to Australia before,” Hamm told Confidential before boarding his Qantas flight
“I’ve only had friends of mine both live there and work there and everybody says it is the greatest place.”
Hamm finds it funny that he is regarded as one of Hollywood’s hottest men and regularly plays against type in comic roles and guests spots on Saturday Night Live.
“If you are going to believe the good stuff, you’ve got to believe the bad stuff so I try not to pick and choose,” he says. “Any time someone says something nice about you, it feels nice, nicer than people bad mouthing you but you have to maintain a pretty healthy sense of sanguinity.”
Regarding fame, Hamm added:
“Wiser minds than me have gone down the road of trying to analyse the pluses and minuses of fame and celebrity. I think in a social media world, it is still figuring itself out. We’ve kind of moved past the novelty of those who are famous only for being famous. It is hard to have an appreciation for it because you know how ephemeral and fleeting and so I do like that people are nice to me and say nice things about things I’ve done in my career, I try to appreciate that in the moment and the rest of it, I can’t really pay attention to. I’ve kind of sworn off the internet in a lot of ways and I find myself far less anxiety ridden because of it.”

Scott returning for the third time.
“I enjoy the GQ Men of the Year event there’s always so many interesting people in the room to talk to. I’m looking forward to meeting Chris Evans — I’m really into the Marvel series, so it will be great to meet him on the night. And I’ll definitely be getting some schmoozing tips from Jon Hamm.”

The Mad Men star’s manhood became a hot topic on the internet a few years ago when some revealing pap shots were published online.
"It was a topic of fascination for other people, certainly not me," Hamm explained to GQ Australia, adding, "By the way, as rumors go, not the worst."
On the topic of sex, Hamm was equally as candid, calling it, "useful, fun, exciting" and "important."
After admitting that she didn’t prepare a speech, Azalea said: “I’ve won a lot of awards over the last few years but this one means the absolute most to me because I can finally say that I have an award winning vagina.”
And with that, Azalea thanked GQ and the (shocked) crowd and walked off stage.
MC Hamish MacDonald wasn’t quite sure what to say when he returned to the microphone after the speech but Mad Men star Jon Hamm took great delight in referencing Azalea’s comments later in the night.
The Hollywood star, who was named International Man of the Decade at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, joked during his acceptance speech: This is amazing for me. I got the best vagina in the world.
How do you say no to that?” he said.
“I guess the short answer is you don’t. You just say, ‘Yes, this vagina is phenomenal.’”

.....In light of Rose presenting Jon Hamm the award for International Man of the Decade at the GQ awards in Sydney last night, Lisa prompted her to tell a story from when she began dating Bobby, who is a good friend of the Mad Men actor.
She said: 'You told a great story about when you met your husband, you quickly discovered that one of his best mates was Jon Hamm.'
And it was her partner's friendship with Jon which left Rose in awe of Bobby shortly after they met.
'We weren't dating very long and he casually mentioned he was best friends with Jon.
'I played it very cool. Then I called my girlfriends, "ladies, he's friends with Jon Hamm. Shut the front door."'
'I started asking questions like what's Jon like? Will he be there? And he would just say how lovely he was and how funny he is, which you probably don't always associate with Jon because of Mad Men and being such an intense portrayal.'
After getting to know Jon through his friendship with Bobby and then by working alongside him on hit film Bridesmaids, Rose was asked to present the award - something she 'had to do'.
Jon Hamm Makes Impassioned Speech For Unity At GQ Awards

"Thank you I feel like a bogan at a Nickelback concert. I've never been to Australia and this is my first time and I got here at six o'clock in the morning yesterday and its been amazing for the last 18 hours, how many hours is that, 36? 48? How does it work?
It's been amazing my best friend in the world who I grew up with in St Louis, Missouri is here tonight with me and he and his family live here in manly beach and I get to hang out with them. This is amazing for me. I got the best vagina in the world. The short answer is you don't say yes until you say yes?? Rose did such a nice thing about me “we worked together” “we were in a movie together.” I do want to say one serious thing about Australians. I've always been fascinated by Australia and I do want to say seriously thank you to everyone involved from GQ and the raft of sponsors that have made this night possible.
But the thing I like about Australia and I will try to expand this out into the great food. You are all of a tiny island on the weirdest part of the globe and yet you all go everywhere. You stay on our couches and you never pay. And its the worst. But your friendly and your amenable to everything. Your always the first one to say lets do it and you all say yes at every opportunity. And thats the nicest thing to think about.
We are all believe it or not, as much as our current president-elect in my country has suggested insulin. Your not insulin. all part of this globe and you guys are the first ones to say yes we are part of the globe. Let's go, lets all be apart of the globe. Your curious, interested and you want to explore. Lets that be the thing we move into the next 2,4 8, 12, 20 years let that be the thing we teach our kids. Let's go explore.
I've never been to Australia I'm so happy to get the chance to get to explore Australia. And I'm so happy you Australians have encouraged me to go explore. Thank you so much for this. My vagina thanks you , my ridiculous sense of humour thanks you and thank you all very much."

Finally we had the pleasure of listening to visiting actor Jon Hamm, who was actually born in America. He gave a gracious speech after being bestowed with the rather grand title of GQ Australia's International Man Of The Decade.
Indeed Hamm was channelling his inner Don Draper later at the after party by the rooftop pool, as a swarm of ladies made a B-line for the newly single actor. At one point PS joined the queue and ended up sitting at his table as a bounty of beauties materialised before us.
