About Fargo season 5 and his role....According to the official synopsis for Fargo season 5 which dropped in August, Hamm will portray a North Dakota sheriff searching for Dot, your bog-standard Midwestern housewife, played by Ted Lasso's Juno Temple. The twist: she has a criminal past which rears its ugly head, hence the cop chase of it all. Roy, for his part, sounds kinda like Javert from Les Mis. “A rancher, preacher and a constitutional lawman, Roy that he is the law and therefore is above the law.” Talk about ego trip.
Hamm will play a sheriff called Roy Tillman (not quite as cool as Don, is it?) and he will be joined by a vast ensemble including Juno Temple, playing the central mysterious housewife, the Oscar-winning Jennifer Jason Leigh, starring as her mother-in-law, Stranger Things star Joe Keery (sans-shaggy hair) and New Girl’s Lamorne Morris.
It’s just the kind of role the Golden Globe winner seems to have been desperate for since Mad Men ended in 2015. For all his leading man handsomeness, virile charisma and James Stewart-esque ability to deftly manage drama and comedy, Hollywood has left him languishing in largely uninspiring supporting bits.
The season will arrive on Tuesday, 21 November in the U.S. No UK air date has been announced as yet.
